Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar said that the Haryana government has decided to develop Gurgaon as Smart City under 100 Smart City Project yesterday at the Nasscom Product Conclave in Gurgaon.
Gurgaon is also running in the race of smart city but the main reason for Gurgaon trailing behind is its non-inclusion in Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
The State Government has requested to the Centre to include Gurgaon in the list and provide Rs 100 crore, the amount to be given by Central Government annually for developing a smart city, he added.
“We have requested the Centre Government to include Gurgaon in the list and take three cities, instead of two, from Haryana. The Central Government is considering the proposal. If at all it does not accede to our request, the state government would develop Gurgaon as the smartest city”, the Chief Minister added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched three biggest schemes Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and housing for all Urban Development.
Narendra Modi main objective of these schemes is to develop Indian cities in smarter cities.The Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY), are wroth Rs. 4,00,000 Crore. While AMRUT ensure basic infrastructure and sanitation, PMAY enables the urban poor decent and affordable houses.

Atal Mission Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 500 Cities having Rs. 1,00,000 and population will be chosen this project. The Modi launching event will be followed by two day workshop in which 1000 Mayors, Muncipal heads, Minister concerned from states and there Chief secretaries take part of Smart Cities Mission.
Modi will release implementation guidelines for three projects – 100 Smart Cities, the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for 500 cities and Housing-For-All by 2022 in urban areas.
