SRA Building project - 5 realty partners held for duping 17 people of over Rs 4 crore in MumbaiMUMBAI: Five partners of a developer firm have been captured for allegedly cheating nearly 17 people of over Rs 4 crore by promising them flats in a slum rehabilitation authority SRA Building project at Lalji Pada in Kandivli (W). Kandivli resident Ketan Jasani, whose father and three uncles booked four homes in the project in 2010, claimed that Dinesh Nahta, Mohammed Badguzar and three different partners of Sanjog Developers did not build the building in spite of taking token cash. Rather, they sold the project to another developer who finished the SRA building. In a SRA Building project, the developer rehabilitates the illegal slum dwellers on the same plot and economically exploits the rest of the plot that is permitted as a free-sale component. "My dad and uncles sold their lands in our hometown to book the four flats for a token of Rs 25 lakh each. The developer guaranteed us possession in 2013," Jasani told. Himmat Viradiya, another complainant, said he booked a flat after seeing a notice of the project. "The developer was to construct our building in the additional FSI he would get after finishing the SRA building, however he continued deferring the work. Unable to finish the project, Sanjog Developers sold the project to another developer, yet did not inform him about our cash or flats," Viradiya included. The five were captured on Saturday and booked under IPC segments 34 (common intention), 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
